18-Year-Old Criminal Suspect Arrested with AK-47, Police Recover More Rifles Hidden in Roof in Anambra

Police operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Enugu-Ukwu, acting on credible intelligence, arrested an 18-year-old suspect, Miracle Mwakalor, on December 6, 2024, at about 2:30 pm. The suspect, a resident of Umubele village in Awka South Local Government Area, was found in possession of an AK-47 rifle and a magazine.
The arrest was confirmed in a press statement issued by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command. SP Ikenga revealed that the operatives disrupted the activities of the criminal gang in their hideout while they were allegedly planning to carry out an attack in Nibo, Awka South Local Government Area.
During the operation, Miracle Mwakalor was apprehended, while other members of the gang managed to escape. Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and led the operatives to an apartment in Ubuofu, Awka, where another rifle was recovered, hidden in the roof.
SP Ikenga assured that efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing gang members, and further updates will be communicated as investigations continue.
