2023: Group tells Ndigbo that Tinubu is the most competent candidate
Ahead of the 2023 poll, the Omaluegwuoku Progressives Initiative (OPI) has described the presidential candidate of the ruling All progressive congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the most competent presidential candidate in the country.
Led by Ambassador Ginika Tor, the group, in a town hall rally, enjoined Ndìgbò in Kano and Yobe states to cast their votes for Tinubu at the polls.
Tor further urged Ndìgbò in the states to shun ethnic and religious sentiments in making their choices on who to vote as President in 2023.
She stated that Igbo Kwenu 4 Asiwaju was borne out of her passion to bring South Easterners on board the Tinubu presidential project and galvanize their interest in massively voting for the Tinubu-Shetima ticket and ensure that Ìgbòs do not make the past mistakes of voting wrongly this time around.
Tor, a federal commissioner of the Federal Character Commission, remarked that if Ndìgbò members of the APC are not personally convinced about the ticket up to this point in time, then they (Ìgbòs) will not be able to vigorously campaign for the election of the APC presidential candidate.
Tor reminded Ndigbo in Damaturu, Yobe state that the competence, capability, and credibility of Tinubu and Shettima are not in doubt and their footprints are visible for anyone to see so they should not hesitate to join hands with OPI to vote the APC candidate as the president in February 2023.
“How can you vote uncertainty against certainty,” she asked. “Asiwaju laid the foundation for a modern Lagos State between 1999 and 2007 and leap frogged the IGR from a paltry ₦600m per month to over ₦10bn monthly and it is upon that foundation that successive administrations of Lagos state have leveraged to continue to deliver dividends of democracy to Lagosians.”
The Omaluegwuoku team members that made the tour of Kano and Yobe also included Emmanuel Ogbonna, renowned Comedian Lukumon Oni, popularly called Ambassador Wahala; Hamza Ibrahim, Amina Idris, Ifeyinwa Patrick, and Eric Ijeomah.
The Kano outing was co-organized by Tony Anthony Ifeanyi, the special adviser to the governor of Kano on entrepreneurship development.
