The Federal Government has said that its administration may not have completely wiped out banditry and kidnappings, but in the last one-year cases have reduced considerably.
Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed stated this while giving the administration’s second term scorecard in Abuja.
He said that sometime in 2019, FG took the dicision to close down its borders, which reduced insecurity because it drastically lowered the incidence of arms perforation.
“Before then our porous borders, not just in Seme but everywhere were veritable avenues for smuggling of arms and drug trafficking” he said.
The Minister also said that the activities of bandits and kidnappers are being checkmated, stressing that although it might not have been completely eradicated “but compared to what it was this time last year to what it is today, it has reduced drastically.”
While commenting on the recent cases of rape in the country, Alhaji Mohammed said there are enough laws in Nigeria that protects the girl child, adding that FG will continue to strengthen those laws.
