The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and his running mate, Mallam Gani Audu, have been described as a great combination.
A chieftain of the APC in Edo State, Hussein Garba, made this remark yesterday in Benin while interacting with reporters.
He said: “I wish to praise Edo State chapter of the APC for being very meticulous and objective in the choice of Pastor Ize-Iyamu and Mallam Audu as our governorship and deputy governorship candidates, ahead of the September 19 election.
“There is absolutely no gainsaying that politics is hinged on numerical strength, based on human population and better galvanised from the two major religions in Nigeria: Christianity and Islam. A major peculiarity of these two religions in Edo State is their peaceful coexistence, devoid of crisis.
“The Christian/Muslim Edo APC’s ticket is a step in the right direction, as it is already giving us an edge over our opponents.
“There is need for religious balance in running the affairs of a state, where you have two main religions, with a view to ensuring that the issue of shortchanging is nipped in the bud, in the interest of peaceful coexistence.”
Garba, an engineer, hoped that Ize-Iyamu and Audu would emerge victorious on September 19 and would ensure good governance in the state.
