Actress Efia Odo has pointed out an extremely crucial distinction about criminals in Africa – which is that most of them are in the political and business class.
It’s the poor and disenfranchised who receive the harshest sentences when they commit crimes but they aren’t the ones who loot countries and enrich themselves.
Those crimes are committed by the ruling class and they are rarely punished for it.
There’s a reason, aside colonialism and slavery, that Africa contains all these resources but remains so poor and it is due to our lying and thieving politicians.
In a post on Twitter, Efia Odo goes hard on police officers who put all their efforts into prosecuting ordinary people when the real criminals are out there.
She tweeted: “African police and white racist American cops are no different. African police look at you and judge you based off of your looks. They are discriminative and prejudice. How can someone look like a criminal? Most african criminals wear suits, remember that.”
