Recall that sometime ago, Abia State govt. banned motorcycle(okada) in Aba and some other parts of Abia state. This was because of the high level of crimes associated to that means of transportation. Atleast when decisions like this are made, there should be good roads to enable other means of transportation find it easy to serve the masses. In Aba, the reverse is the case and people are angry and suffering from alot of things.
On saturday, our correspondence reported that a policeman was killed by angry mob along Uratta junction close to ogbo osisi market in osisioma ngwa LGA of Abia State. His Death was as a result of the fact that the police man took it as a point of duty to hold and seize peoples’ okada. These motorcycles are then taken to the police station so that the owners can come and bail it with some money.
The policeman in question has been doing this and the people are not comfortable with it until that saturday when he seized some people’s motorcycle and send to the station. He did it again for the second time and that was when the angry mob waited for him along Uratta junction, held and beat him to death. Before the police could arrive the scene, the angry mob have already taken to their heels. On reaching the scene, the police caught a young man whom we are not sure if he was involved in the killing, and coincidentally was an IPOB member. The police label the killing on the IPOB. The angry policemen have been moving around arresting innocent people including IPOB members. As at yesterday being wednesday, about 15 people were arrested in a bet9ja house close to Immaculate Heart cath. Church Umuozuo.
