Back to the ancient city of Onitsha where she was born, the wife of the working Governor of Anambra State, Dr Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano, Osodieme, today, visited Onitsha North and South Local Government Areas, in continuation of her humanitarian tour of the 21 LGAs in the State.
With Onitsha South as her first point of call, Osodieme was received by a large number of dignitaries, which include the Commissioner of Women and Children Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mesue; the duo of the House Members representing Onitsha South 1 & 2, Hon Barr. Uzorma Eli and Hon. Hon. Beverly Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche; Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Title, Barr Vera Okonkwo; Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment and Special Duties, Hon Ify Obinabo; TC Chairman of Onitsha South, Chief Emeka Asoanya; and rest of the stakeholders.
Addressing the listening audience, Mrs Obiano said Onitsha as her place of birth will always be her home. Osodieme explained reason for the tour when she said, “we are here because we have continue to do what we know how to do best and that’s to touch the lives of indigent widows, the physical challenged, the downtrodden and children in all Communities of Anambra State”.
“We are doing this not for election because my husband is no longer contesting. But because of the milk of human kindness flowing inside us” she enthused.
Chairperson of Onitsha South Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs Onyinye Asoanya, said that the Governor’s wife NGO, CAFE, has been a beacon of hope and sustainable empowerment to ndi Anambra.
In Onitsha North Local Government Area, Onitsha North Constituency 2 State House Member, Hon. Edward Ibuso, Onitsha North; Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon Nnamdi Onukwuba; Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon Sally Mbanefo; and Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka (Ogilisi Igbo), were among the dignitaries that received Her Excellency in Onitsha North Local Government Area.
Osodieme who said despite the ragging pandemic and with no political gain, she reached out because of the love herself and husband have for the people.
She commended the administration of her husband, saying despite the dwindling oil price and harsh economy compounded by COVID19, Government has continued to function, with salary paid as at when due.
With reopening of Schools next week, Mama Anambra, reminded parents to see that their children are properly instructed on COVID19 guidelines and while she called on school administrators to ensure those kids are properly monitored. According to her the wellbeing of the children matters to her.
Thanking the people of Onitsha for their unrelenting support to her and the husband administration, Osodieme handed over her palliative support to the indigent widows, Physically challenged and Children, selected from Onitsha North and South LGAs.
