Preserve Igbo Language, Culture And Tradition, Amanuke Monarch Urges Parents, Others

PRESERVE IGBO LANGUAGE, CULTURE: AMANUKE MONARCH, IGWE DENNIS EZEBUILO CHARGES IGBO PARENTS, OTHERS.

His Royal Highness Igwe Dennis Ezebuilo, ogbududu 11, The Crowned Traditional Ruler of Amanuke Eri Kingdom in Awka South Local Government of Anambra State has called on parents, Educational and Religious leaders in South East to intensify effort towards the promotion and preservation of preservation of Igbo language.

Igwe Dennis Ezebuilo lamented the gradual decline of igbo language, the lackadaisical attitude and indifference of Igbo speakers attributing it to many factors which include that parents no longer tell the scintillating, entertaining and educative igbo folktales to their children in igbo language.

Moreso, Some igbo families no longer find it fashionable to communicate with thier children and wards in igbo language or teach them Igbo idioms and proverbs at home.

He stated that in the South East today and among igbo families, Local music and dance steps has given way to hiphop, reggae, rock, blues and jazz tunes as the renowned igbo sounds are seen as achaic and outdated.

Ya mere, Ndi nkuzi umu akwukwo anyi ga agba mbo na iwulite asusu Igbo, Ndi Ukochukwu na Ndi goomenti ga agbasi mbo Ike ihu na asusu anyi efughi ma ncha.

He bemoaned the fact that a good number of Igbo people you meet in contemporary society prefer to communicate in English language or pidgin, finding it difficult to communicate effectively in igbo tongue.

He urged Families, educational institution, Government of the day to formulate and implement policies to ensure that Igbo language is preserved.

The ogbodudu 11 equally blamed the management of schools domiciled in South East who slams school children with all manner of punishment for speaking the Igbo language in the classroom.
