I was deeply touched, nevertheless excited as one of the beneficiaries of 14 houses- 3-bedroom bungalow- attracted by the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife, for the less privileged had wished that his late parents were alive to witness what was happening in their family.
Mr. Jideofor Obi a native of Uruoji Village, Nri made the statement while speaking to newsmen during the recent tour of inspection at the site by the Anambra Central Project Monitoring Committee led by the former Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Lady Henrietta Agbata. Mr. Obi is the son of late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Nwogbo Obi.
The keys to the house which is nearing completion will soon be handed over to the family.
In so many ways, the feats of especially our representatives will be a long-running story after their sojourn on the floor of the National Assembly. Ekwunife’s paragraph will be very long, glorious and interesting. She is a woman, quite certain, but breaking gender bias in politics, and silencing cynicism with unusual representation.
Appreciating the Senator, Mr. Obi on behalf of his siblings thanked the Senator whom he said has been touching the lives of people in so many ways. He noted, however, that no thanks would be enough to convey to the Senator for the housing project.
“My parents wherever they are would be very happy seeing what is happening in the family, because Ekwunife has been a blessing to Ndi Anambra”
Reminiscing, the beneficiary said that nobody has equalled the triumphs of the woman her teeming supporters like to call Iyom since she was first elected in 2007 in the National Assembly.
Addressing, Mrs. Mary Chukwurah said that, she was delighted few days ago since knowing that it was the hardworking Senator that was behind the Project. She praised Ekwunife for always remembering the less privileged and prayed for God’s blessing and favour upon her and family.
That, then, reminds me of the thoughtful words used by Mrs. Josephine Anenih to describe the A-grade Senator, “Diligent and Dedicated.” Mrs. Anenih who many deference for her effective contribution to Nation-building was not in reverie during Anambra Central Senatorial District zonal briefing in December of the previous year when similar to HE Peter Obi, she described Ekwunife as a lawmaker with a proven track record.
Even so, the Uruoji-born man appealingly had a message for PDP delegates in the forthcoming primary election, “Ekwunife is the best person for the job, and we must do what is right by supporting her aspiration.” Of course, everyone I’m talking to about the guber election says Ekwunife is the best shot for the party to dislodge the APGA led administration.
It does, however, mean that to give governance a facelift in the light of the Nation, two things are involved: The Party delegates should unanimously ensure they nominate Ekwunife, and what next? Ndi Anambra will massively vote for the Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology to become the next governor.
Concluding, the beneficiary advised that delegates should not be deceived by inducement of any sort because it’s only Ekwunife that can return the state on the path of economic prosperity.
