Anambra: Oba Community Conduct Ground Breaking of Coordinated Wholesale Center Oba, Discharge Protesting Traders

The people of Oba Community in Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State were on Thursday , performed and conducted their groung breaking of Coordinated Wholesale Center, CWC, by Central Pharmaceutical and Allied Product Wholesale Limited, CPAPWL, Onitsha and Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria, PCN, at Anambra International Market Oba .

The Registrar of PCN was to conduct the ground breaking of the CWC, at Anambra International Market Oba and which they later got information about a protest by some traders in opposed to the CWC project at Onitsha Drug Market.

He however , quickly cancelled the visit while he was on courtesy call on Governor Willie Obiano, saying that his visit in the state should not be a reason for any loss of life or property.

While he was in Awka to visit the Governor,the members of Oba Traditional Council and some members of CPAPWL, had gathered at the venue waiting for him to arrive for the programme to kick off, only to hear that the even will not hold again.

Angered by the disappointment that the program has been cancelled, the members of the Traditional Council who according to tradition, that when the High Chief have come out for an event like that, they do not go home disappointed, however went ahead and do the ground breaking ceremony, saying that when ever the state and the Federal government is ready, they should come and perform their own ceremonies.

Speaking with Newsmen shortly after the ground breaking , Central pharmaceutical &Allied Products wholesale Ltd, the Regent of Oba, Prince Noel Ezenwa, who was represented by Ichie Boniface Onyeka, the second in command in the Oba traditional Council, said that the project is irreversible.

The Oba Council of High Chiefs warned that anyone that will put a stumbling block to the project will not live to see its completion, urging the Federal, State and PCN never to succumb to any threat or agitation by the opposition trader at the Bridge Head drug Onitsha, added that the Minister of Health, PCN, Anambra State government and majority of the traders have accepted Oba as the venue of the project wondering why a few disgruntled traders would opposed the project being Sited in Oba.

Contributing , the Chairman Board of Directors of CPAPWL, Mr Uche Ezeh, and the Secretary, Chimezie Opara Spokespersons of the Board of Directors, Chief Okwudili Maduka thanked Oba people for having faith with the PCN and CPAPWL, promising that the project will not be relocated from Oba.
