The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State, CP Monday Bala Kuryas fsi yesterday said that the State Police Command under his watch have zero tolerance for crime and warned the criminals to desist from their criminal activities.
Consequently , he has warned all criminals still operating in the state to leave the state as they would not find any hiding place henceforth in the state.
Speaking , when the Police Operatives have arrested two (2) persons suspected to have been involved in clashes between rival cult groups in the early hours of 28th March, 2021, along *Ifite Awka , Zik’s Avenue in Awka South LGA*, which led to the death of two yet unidentified young men, whose bodies have been deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy .
According to CP, adequate security have been taken emplaced to forestall further escalation of the incidence, while full-scale investigation to determine the culpability or otherwise of the two (2) arrested persons as well as arrest fleeing members of the cult groups, has commenced.
In line with another development, following several complaints of burglary/house breaking into living rooms, shops, malls, etc, snatching of bags, phones, other personal effects, amongst other acts crime and criminality; Police Operatives attached to Okopoko Division on 25th March, 2021, while on routine patrol along Upper Iweka, arrested (four) 4 male suspects namely; *Obumneme Ugwu age 24years, Uchenna Udeh age 25years, Ani Amechi age 19years and Isreal Isaac age 21years.
On the side of Preliminary investigation, it was reveals that the suspects are members of a notorious criminal gang that has been formenting trouble in the area for some time now. However, discreet investigation is ongoing to arrest and bring to book other members of the criminal gang on the run.added that all the suspects would be charged to court on conclusion of investigations.
CP Monday Kuryas , however, while reiterating the commitment of the Command not to spare unrepentant criminal elements in the State, has enjoined *Ndi Anambra* not to hesitate in providing useful and timely information that can assist the Police in its operations, promise to continue to synergize public security and safety in the state.
And he also called on the residents to remain law-abiding, vigilant and continue to partner and support the police and other security agencies assuring “We’ll continue to synergize and collaborate towards combating acts of crime and criminality as well as ensure public security and safety in the state.
