Senator Ifeanyi Uba, a gubernatorial aspirant for the Novermber 6 2021 gubernatorial election in Anambra state, weekend commiserated with the victims of Mgbuka kNpor market fire disaster that destroyed wares worth millions of naira recently.
Commisseratinf with them he said, “that is why we are fighting to be at Government House so that we
will be able to solve your problems as one of you”
“For 10 years I was in the spareparts business. We pray God to give the victims the heart with which to bear the loss. May it not happen again”
He later donated “1million naira to the victims and promised to continue to assist the market.
Commending him for the donation, the chairman of the market, chief Victor Elobi, hinted that some of the victims who are close to Uba approached him in his house and told him what happened and pleaded to him to assist.
“That is why he came to assist in person, nothing stops him from giving them the money when they came to his house but he came in person to also know the exrent of the damage”
“He is the first to donate money, goverrnment said it will set up a panel and we are waiting for them”
Contributing, Uba’s Special Adviser on Entertainment, Hon Chinedu Nwadike, said that on hearing of the inferno Uba who has sympathy for the poor rushed to find a way of assisting.
“Uba is the only one the people want to be their governor and he has what it takes to be the governor”
“He is a great employer of labour, most of these aspirants don’t even have companies, they are not employers of labour”
Also Chief Linus Uchefuna, Chief Taskforce in the market, said that Uba came to commiserate with the victims and expressed satisfaction with his financial donation.
“We are happy with him except that the inferno made us unhappy. He is the first donor since the inferno happened.. I urged the victims to take heart”.
