Umuoji Patriotic Citizens Warns Boniface Ukatu to Stop Terrorising Indigenes of Umuoji Using false Relationship With Inspector General of Police
…Refutes False Allegations Against Hon. Barr Mrs Vera Queen Okonkwo, PG
A group under the aegis of Umuoji Patriotic Citizens, has issued a strong warning to Mr. Boniface Ukatu of Umuobia Village Umuoji, in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State to desist forthwith from harassing and intimidating the indigenes of the community, using false relationship with the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Speaking on behalf of the group, a victim of Mr Ukatu’s harrasment and the member Boad of Trustees of the group, Chief Tochukwu Mmodu said that concerned members of the group could no longer keep quiet and watch Mr. Ukatu continue to intimidate and harass his kinsmen with reckless abandon.
‘The President Umuoji Patriotic Citizens, Barr. Osita Nwannia, the Secretary, Dr. Emeka Muokwue are all angry with Mr Boniface Ukatu’s untoward attitude. People are disenchanted.
‘Mr Ukatu is going about speaking ill of anyone who disagree with him or anyone who fails to succumb to his dubious antics. He is defrauding unsuspecting Umuojians with his fake and false relationship with the acting Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba.
‘He has locked up many Innocent people. I was detained alongside others for speaking against his continued harassment and embarrassment. We wrote petition to Zone 9 against the then PG over financial impropriety. The PG contracted him to play a dirty job. He boasted that he has connection at the high places. He took me, Chief Gab Mbanefo, Nze Obiora Edekobi to Abuja and detained us. He lied that we came to the PG’s house with then Igwe of Umuoji to kidnap and assassinate him. Zone 9 was about taken the matter to court before he came and took us to Abuja. Up till this day the police did not investigate the matter.
He is causing confusing here and there in the community. He is terrorizing and threatening his kinsmen on daily basis. He is always boasting that he has police connections. He is even impersonating the police.
‘He assigned to himself the Special Assistant to IGP on Community Policing. Mr. Ukatu had in the past lied to the people that he is the Special Adviser to the President General of Umuoji. Is that not an impersonation? He levelled all manner of allegations against us. Once you disagree with him, he will set you up, frame you up. We have endured enough. Mr Boniface Ukatu is dragging the name of the Nigeria Police force to the mud.
He is always dropping the picture and name of the IGP just to swindle and hoodwink the people into believing that he has access to the police hierarchy. He is using the picture he snapped with the acting IGP when he was still serving as AIG as a tool. Once you are rich he will come to you and ask you to allow him get Police officers as guards, once you say no to his demands he will start fighting you,’ Mmodu said.
The group called on the Inspector General of Police to investigate the activities of Mr Boniface Ukatu, describing his allegations against the President General of Umuoji Improvement Union Nigeria (UIUN),
the Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Barr. Mrs Vera Queen Okonkwo, Chief Sly Onyima and the as false, malicious, baseless and laughable.
‘Hon Mrs VeraQueen Okonkwo and the PG are not in anyway into land grabbing. He is just trying to make mountain out of molehill. These two individuals are progressives. They are committed to things that will move Umuoji forward. Mr Boniface Ukatu should desist from tarnishing their image.
The group enjoined the people of Umuoji to be wary of Mr. Boniface Ukatu, saying his activities was becoming too unbecoming and needed to be checked, adding that they were in Court with him over many cases.
The group appealed to the people of Dimechem quarter to vote according to their conscience and ignore the antics, campaign of calunmy and rumours been peddled by Mr. Boniface Ukatu.
Efforts made by the write to reach Mr Boniface Ukatu proved abortive.
