15th August every year is a big solemnity in the universal roman catholic church. This solemnity which the church called “THE ASSUMPTION” is a belief that Mary the mother of Jesus who is also God was taken body and soul to heaven after her earthly journey.
That of this year was celebrated in a big way in St Anthony’s catholic parish, Ifite-Awka, Anambra State as the Nigeria Federal Of Catholic Students (NFCS) welcome their alumni.
The solemnity which was started with the holy mass in which three priests were present, namely, Rev. Fr. Raymond Umennajiuba, Rev Fr. Augustine Umeatuegbu and Rev. Fr Ugochukwu Ngana.

Speaking to the congregation during homily, Rev. Fr Ngana spoke explicitly on the solemnity of the Assumption of Mary the mother God. He summarized his homily based on the reflection he tagged:- Blessed virgin Mary’s wilderness experience, lesson there in..Explaining the life of Mary as she accepted the word of God by saying be it done to me according to ur word even when her pregnancy took a strange format…
2. Even though she was pregnant..she ran to help/serve Elizabeth her sister with humility. Prepare to serve others in purity and sincerity of heart.
3. Mary entered her wilderness experience in simplicity of heart so children of God should learn thus.
4. Even as the mother of Jesus who is to be the savior of the world she couldn’t find any room to give birth. Christians should not expect things to always move smoothly for us. He concluded by advising christians to adhere Mary’s format of tackling her wilderness experience to tackle our own wilderness experience.

Other functions to be held that day was fully carried out which include, handing over the mantle of leadership from the old NFCS excos to the new one, installation of the new Mr/Mrs Face of NFCS.
