The Nigerian Indigenous Nationalities Alliance for Self- Determination ( NINAS) has reitrated is position for referendum, saying it is remains the only option by which aggrieved and maginalised regions in Nigeria can be liberated.

It also called for the jettisoning of the 1999 Constitution, describing it as a fraud and forgery that is directly responsible for practically all the misery tormenting the country, including the killings, mass poverty, gross insecurity and general hopelessness.

Asserting that the highlighted factors are gradually leading to the demise of the country, the group called on all regions fed up with the Nigerian nation to mobilise their constituents for a regional referendum for Self- Determination..

In addition, NINAS urged the leadership of all the political parties in the country to back down, saying the parties have become the Judas Goat that routinely lead the people to slaughter.

NINAS, an alliance of various Self- Determination groups across the South, Lower Niger and Middle- Belt stressed that the key to abrogating the 1999 Constitution is in the immediate halting the political parties from dragging the nation to another round of national election in 2023.

The group emphasised that the above admonition is not call for boycott of the 2023 elections, but to halt its preparations in 2021.

Addressing a world press conference Tuesday in Lagos at the Expiration of the 120-Day Period of Consultations in the Measured Implementation of the Constitutional Force Majure, NINAS posited that it has made tremendous progress in giving effect to the Will of the Peoples of Nigeria which had for so long been suppressed by the forces of oppression and retrogression.

The group, in a speech by its chairman Prof. Banji Akintoye called on all Alliance Territories to commence the spreading of the information on the Constitutional Force Majuere and related ones beginning from 17th August, 2021.

It also directed the Regional Blocs to advance the processing and ratification of their regional constitutions and charters in readiness for UN- backed Regional Self-Determination Stay or Leave Referendum from Nigeria.

According to the speech delivered by Dr. Don Pedro Obaseki, the group in addition requested all Nigerians to help intensify the signing of the ongoing NINAS Referendum Petition by which it in a December 16, 2020 CFM Proclamation is addressed to the United Nations Security Council and also support and where possible partake in the March at the 76rh UN General Assembly slated for September 2021.

With the Defeat of the 1999 Constitution and in the Spirit of the Transitioning prescribed in the December 16, 2020 NINAS CFM Proclamation, All Governments in the Alliance Territories are invited to brace up, take charge and assume responsibility for Safety and Economic Welfare of their People, Making Appropriate Legislations and Regulations to step into roles previously denied them or prohibited by the Fraudulent and now Disputed 1999 Constitution, especially via the 68-Items Federal Exclusive Legislative List in the Constitution pending when formal Transitional Mechanisms are worked out” the group

Fielding questions at the occasion, the leader of Lower Niger Congress, Barr. Tony Nnadi asserted that all the stakeholders have been consulted including President Muhammadu Buhari through the December 16, 2020 NINAS CFM Proclamation published in a national Newspaper.

Speaking further, he said members of the National Assembly are confused on their constitutional role, positing that they were only saddle with the responsibility of law making and not drafting of constituion.

He also noted that the Nigeria’s political leadership has wielded authoritarian powers conferred upon them by the all power 1999 Constitution and has such conditioned the nation to a child- pyramid system, where only the leaders can decide.

In the event that the leadership of the country fails to yield to their demands, Nnadi said the young people whose future has been damage are ready to take the bull by the horn and fight for their liberation.
