Plateau Killings: Muslims Communities To Protect Churches Within Their Domain
Muslims Communities in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State on Sunday resolved to protect all Churches within their domain against any attack by hoodlums .
This was part of the communities’ resolutions after an emergency stakeholders meeting organised by Jasawa Community Development Association (JCDA), held at the Conference Hall of Jos Central Mosque.
Our correspondent reports that the meeting was organized to discuss and find solutions to the crisis that erupted in Jos .
The event which had ward heads, religious leaders and other stakeholders in attendance was also aimed at strengthening peace in the Jos.
Alh. Shehu Ibrahim Massalla, the JCDA’s president while delivering his speech said “we have resolved to protect all Churches within Muslim communities.
He added that This is so because we have realized that some politicians are using this kind of opportunity to achieve their surreptitious objectives knowing fully well that religion is very sensitive. This will go a long way to prevent further occurrence of crisis in Jos and its environs.

“We have equally resolved that vigilante groups within our domains will work and assist the security agencies to ensure peace and harmony within Jos and its environs.
They all agreed that anybody caught attacking innocent citizens or causing trouble will be handed over to the security agencies, ” he added.
He further called on the state government to be proactive before a crisis escalated in any community and ensured that justice was done for those who are cheated.
In his speech at the event, the Chairman of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, Hon. Shehu Bala,
admonished parents to caution their children/wards, to desist from hiding under the guise of reprisal, attacking, and killing innocent people in certain areas of the local government.
He said: “Parents must rise to not only take care of their children or wards but to also ensure that these boys stop attacking people on the guise of reprisal over the happening of last week.”
Hon. Bala said miscreants from across divide of both Muslim and Christian youths have now taken undue advantage of the recent unfortunate incident to perpetrate crimes, adding that State Government had manned security personnel at Mosques and Churches as a proactive measure to forestall any breakdown of the law in Jos.
He called on citizens to be their brothers keeper at all times.
