Gunfire Monday rocked communities in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State, as students sat for the West African Examinations Council, WAEC.
The gunmen, enforcing the sit-at-home order of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, attacked Comprehensive Secondary School, Nkume, chasing away students who were sitting for the examination.
They also set ablaze motorcycles belonging to the teachers and students and ordered everyone, including the students sitting for English Language paper, to go home…..

VAT: Presidency faults Wike, denies shortchanging South for North
The Presidency has faulted the position of the governor of River State, Nyesom Wike, that the federal government was taking Value Added Tax, VAT, from the South to service states in the North.
The President’s Special Assistance on Public Affairs, Ajuri Ngelale, who stated this on Channels Television’s breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily, yesterday, said the bulk of VAT income was generated by the federal government.
According to him, the highest percentage of VAT comes from the Port owned by the federal government, irrespective of the fact that they are located in the Southern part of Nigeria….

UNFAZED by the Abuja Court of Appeal judgement which restrained Rivers State Government from collecting Value Added Tax (VAT) and sundry taxes yet in the state, Governor Nyesom Wike has set eyes on his administration’s collection of $750Million VAT to accrue from the $10Billion Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Train 7 development.
In a statement Monday by his Media Aide, Kelvin Ebiri, over Sunday’s sendoff ceremony in Port Harcourt for out-gone NLNG Managing Director, Tony Attah, the Governor was quoted as saying that, “the 7.5 VAT from the NLNG Train 7 project, will be used to transform the State.”….

CHAIRMAN of the Nigerian Indigenous Nationalities Alliance for Self-Determination, NINAS, Professor Banji Akintoye, yesterday, urged the United Nations to declare Miyetti Allah a terrorist organization. He also vowed to organise a one million-man freedom march at the UN Headquarters in New York, the United States of America, for 11 days, saying the protest is meant to expose the alleged genocide being perpetrated by murderous herdsmen in the name of grazing in the South and Middle-Belt of Nigeria. A College of Science and Technology that will run as an intermediary programme to prepare students into Science and bridge the gap of effective science learning preceding tertiary education, is to be established by the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel has announced.
The Governor who stated this on Monday while receiving a delegation from the University of Lagos, his Alma Mata, led by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe who paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Uyo, solicited collaborations with the University of Lagos in the areas of personnel training and manpower development said the state is set to rejig the curriculum of education generally and that of Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) through collaborative programmes and entrepreneurial courses packaged to establish students after their school year….
