APC parallel congresses: Amosun, Aregbesola, Lai may lose out, party to back governors
There were strong indications on Sunday that in states where parallel congresses were held, the All Progressives Congress would recognise executive councils supported by incumbent governors in the APC states.
A member of the party’s national caucus, who confided in one of our correspondents, also said in non-APC states, the party would recognise congresses endorsed by the highest political office holders in such states.

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, yesterday, rejected dialogue with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, warning it not to drag its name into the November 6, 2021 Anambra State governorship election.
The pro-Biafra group also described as laughable, the statement by the Nigerian Police that it is coming to Anambra State for the November 6, 2021 governorship election with 33,000 personnel and eight helicopters, saying that the implication of that statement by the Police is that they (Police) do not want the election to hold that day.….

Insecurity: UK govt warns citizens against travelling to 12 states in Nigeria [See List]
The United Kingdom (UK) has warned its citizens against travelling to twelve states in Nigeria over insecurity issues.
This was disclosed in a travel advisory published by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
The UK government warned its citizens of a high threat of kidnap throughout Nigeria for ideological, financial or political gain.
Citizens have been warned to stay away from these twelve states; Borno, Yobe, Bayelsa, Bauchi, Gombe, Kaduna, Katsina,Delta, Rivers, Cross River, Zamfara, and Adamawa states.
The FCDO also advised its citizens against all but essential travel to Bauchi, Kano, Jigawa , Niger, Sokoto, Kogi within 20km of the border with Niger in Kebbi and Abia States respectively.…..

18 Months After Buhari’s Directive, Oronsaye Report Still Stuck
The federal government is yet to commence the implementation of the report of the Presidential Committee on Restructuring and Rationalisation of Federal Government Parastatals, Commissions and Agencies, over 18 months after the Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, announced a presidential directive to that effect.

Fuel Subsidy Hits N816bn In Seven Months
•Product losses gulp N182bn
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in the last seven months spent over N816billion in subsidising the cost of Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) for Nigerians, a report has shown.
Despite this, within the period, the country lost another N182billion to product losses, which is about 22.3percent of the total cost spent on subsidy.
According to the industry’s report obtained from the Corporation’s website, the NNPC started recording what it described in its books as “value shortfall” from February.
As a result, the Corporation’s statutory remittance to FAAC had at a point, dwindled within the period.
A breakdown of the figures showed that within the period under review, the shortfall steadily rose from N25.3billion in January to N164.3billion recorded in May…..

Moghalu: I don’t blame youths for leaving Nigeria — there’s economic frustration
Kingsley Moghalu, a former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), says economic frustration and misery are among the factors driving youths out of Nigeria.
Moghalu said he is running for president in 2023 to build a country they can return to.
The technocrat turned politician recently joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to pursue his presidential ambition.
Speaking during a Channels Television programme on Sunday, he said although his children are based abroad, they look forward to coming back to Nigeria.

Kogi Govt to EFCC: disclose custodian of ‘missing cash’
Who owns the N19, 333,333,333.36 domiciled in Sterling Bank Plc? It is the cash the bank allegedly promised to transfer to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), being part of a N20 billion bailout fund granted to Kogi State.
The Governor Yahaya Bello administration yesterday challenged the Economic and Crime Commission (EFCC) to make public report of the investigations on the purported N20 billion bailout funds over which a Lagos High Court reportedly froze the state’s account in August

Supreme Court Affirms Agugua as Imo Chief Judge
The Supreme Court has affirmed the appointment of Justice Ijeoma Aguguo as chief judge of Imo State and struck out the suit against her as incompetent.
The suit numbered SC/CV/862/2020 was filed by one Justice Brown against the National Judicial Council (NJC) challenging the appointment of Justice Aguguo, the first female chief judge of the state.
The court discovered the supposed Justice Brown was a fictitious name used to institute the suit and consequently dismiss the case.
Agugua was repeatedly denied the post until Governor Hope Uzodimma announced her nomination after the retirement of Justice Paschal Nnadi in March 2020.…..

PDP: South East leaders reject Anyanwu as secretary
Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South East has rejected Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the zone’s consensus candidate for the position of national secretary of the opposition party.
The PDP National Vice Chairman(South East), Ali Odefa, had in a statement by his media aide, Moses Idika, last week, announced Anyanwu as the zone’s consensus candidate for the national secretary of the opposition party.
However, Chinemerem explained that no consensus was reached at the South East PDP meeting held in Enugu on October 14, where Anyanwu was said to have been adopted.
According to him, no decision was reached on who to represent South East as national secretary.……
