Ex International Boxer, Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo has commended Nigeria University Game Association (NUGA) for adding boxing as one of the University Games to be displayed in the next game events
Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo, Ex International Boxer made this Commendation while speaking to the press on friday at his resident in Enugu.
Mazi Okoronkwo who is also the Ambassador of sports in boxing further commended the New Nigeria Boxing Federation officials for this new innovation and positive way forward.
In addition, the Sports Ambassador Boxing, Mazi Comr Ikechukwu Okoronkwo and team appreciated Barr Omo-gege and Laguda for delivery as proposed.
Recall that boxing has become the latest sport to be added to the events of Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA).

He added that the approval was sequel to the successful presentation of Boxing to the NUGA in Council at their meeting held at their University of Lagos Thursday, 28th October, 2022.
According to the release, the NBF presentation team, led by Mr. Laguda Babatunde, had prompted NUGA President, Prof. Stephen Hamafyelto, to immediately ask the Council for two approvals. The first was for the proposal and second for the inclusion of Boxing into the NUGA events.
Both motions carried unopposed and were subsequently adopted by the Council.
More good news was in store for NBF as the NUGA in Council, led by the gracious President, also approved Boxing as a demonstration event in the next edition of NUGA, which is to be hosted by University of Lagos (UNILAG) in March 2022.
The jubilant NBF team was told to liaise with NUGA and work out modalities for demonstrating Boxing at NUGA 2022.
Already, some universities have asked to be included in the demonstration exercise.
Commenting after the meeting, Mr. Laguda praised the new NBF Board for taking the initiative that led to this historic event in the annals of boxing in Nigeria. He added that the Board will work hard to justify the NUGA President’s confidence and establish a lasting relationship with the University Games.
The NBF Vice President, Mr. Azania Omo-Agege, also described the news as very exciting, adding that the NBF Board will ensure a successful demonstration to the delight of NUGA, boxers and all in the boxing family.
The 2022 NUGA LOC Technical Committee, made up leading sports administrators and technocrats, have also signified their intention to work with the NBF Board to achieve a memorable outing for boxing at NUGA 2022.
