Vigilante Groups task to desist from criminality, social crimes and shun illicit drugs – CP Echeng

Members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria has been tasked to continue to synergies with Police and other sisters security agencies in Anambra State and furnished them with actionable and useful information that helps to rid off various communities of the crimes and criminal elements.
The Commissioner of Police Anambra Police Command ,CP Echeng E Echeng made the call while addressing newly promoted senior Officers of Vigilante Group of Nigeria VG N in Awka
He stated that VGN needs to fight crime, stressing the need for them to campaign against illicit drugs, consumption of hard drugs, especially this on trend called Mkpulumili which has destroyed many youths in
the society.
The Commissioner of Police represented by Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Emma Ogbuanya from Operations Department of the Command , highlighted some of the neaty gritty of Vigilante work is,and reminded them that people with criminal records or exconvict are not allowed to join Vigilante Group.
He urged all members of Vigilante Group to refrain from criminality or other social crime, which he descriibed as a social ill, taboo in lgboland and unacceptable social behavior to the society.
The Police Boss who encouraged them not to relent in robust partnership with the police in the joint Objective in curbing crimes to the grassroots in their various communities, promised to report some of their logistics to the appropriate authority to amilorate their plights ,
Earlier in his remarks, the Anambra State Commandant of Vigilante Group of Nigeria, George Chukwu, said Members of Vigilante Group will not relent in their activities in dislodging the evil plans of the door seekers in various communities, despite been waiting for the confirmation of Vigilante Group by the Legislative and Excutive arms of the Government.
Presenting the address of welcome,the state deputy commander,Admin,Frank Ibeneme pledged that Vigilante Group will continue with their efforts to make Anambra State secured even when they are not received any incentives .
Acccording to him, past police administration’s in the state give motorcycle as a token of appreciation after successful joint operation in 2019/2020 as well as training and retraining of Vigilante members by the community Police Department.
He requested assistance of the Commissioner of Police to convey to Governor Willie Obiano their challenges facing them and extolled the state Commissioner of police for his fatherly approach,and also called on well meaning Anambrans to their assistance as they lack a lot of amenities.
Inspection of the guard of honour by the Commissioner of police added glamour to the occasion.
