Anambra 2021: Andy Uba Sets To Take Over Anambra As Court Upholds APC Primary Election
…dismisses joinder application filed by George Moughalu.
Senator Andy Uba has gotten a relief from the federal high court, Awka in a judgement delivered by Justice H. A Nganjiwa as the court upheld that Senator Andy Uba won the APC primary election held on June 26 for Anambra state November 6 governorship election.
The suit filed by Chief Maxwell Okoye was dismissed. Chief Okoye had approached the court with a suit to be declared the winner of the APC primary election held on June 26, 2021. In the suit, Chief Okoye said he scored the highest number of votes cast at the primary election and should have been declared the candidate of the party.
Delivering judgement, Justice Nganjiwa whose judgement was dated December 20, 2021 and obtained by our correspondent today dismissed the suit, for failing to convince the court that he actually won the APC primary election held on June 26, 2021.
Dr George Moughalu who filed an application to join as an interested party also lost, as the court dismissed his application for lacking in merit.
With this Judgement, Andy Uba returns as the candidate of APC in Anambra state. Though this judgement conflicts with the earlier judgement from the federal high court Abuja which nullified the June 26 primaries of APC, the judgement have paved way for Andy Ubah to prosecute his case against Prof Soludo and APGA at the tribunal.
