2023: Cross River State Councilors Endorse Senator Bassey Otu

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, The Cross River State Councilors under the aegis of Councilors for Prince Otu Forum have thrown their weight behind Senator (Prince) Bassey Otu for governor. The forum which is made up of serving councilors across the 18 Local Governments made this known when it paid a courtesy visit to Senator Otu.

Speaking during the event, The Leader, Yala Legislative Council, Hon. Egana noted that “as a result of several loans acquired by successive administrations, Cross River is wobbling in huge internal and external debts. Sir Ben Ayade has had to deploy the highest level of experience and tact in ensuring salaries are paid uninterrupted as well as construction of industries across the State”.

He said “As we begin to shop for a successor, experience, intellect and managerial skills are the basic prerequisite required for the next Governor. After a holistic appraisal of all the potential governorship aspirants, we have opted to queue behind Senator (Prince) Bassey Otu take over in 2023.

“Our choice is based on proven leadership qualities. His impact at the Senate was adjudged by many to be till date unprecedented; his name is synonymous with human empowerment and societal development. Prince Otu’s record of empowerment ranging from Award of land documents and financial support to build, car awards, skill acquisition, scholarships etc. is yet to be broken”.

Hon. Egana assured that the forum will mobilize massively across the state for Senator Otu.

Responding, Senator Otu expressed gratitude to the forum for finding him worthy of their support. He said he will consolidate on the gains of the present administration, sustaining the human capital development and industrialization legacies.

He said his administration will focus on Agriculture, Education, Gender, Health, Poverty reduction and Youth empowerment in guaranteeing growth and development.
