By Eneh Victor

According to Eneh Victor, a political analyst, who spoke through his official Facebook page (AIF MEDIA), there are pressures from different political leaders and groups from Anambra state on APGA National Working Committee to disqualify all APGA aspirants who defected to APC prior to November 6 Anambra state governrorship election.

A member of one of the pressure groups, Chief Onyeka Chukwudi told AIF Media that those who left APGA before the November 6, governorship election and later returned should be disqualified.

He stated that Chapter 5, article 27 (f) of the party constitution should be applied before they can stand for election in the party. Chief Chukwudi argued that those who left APGA before the guber election lost their membership. He went further to state that as at the time they returned to the party, they were new members and should in line with article 27(f) stay up to 18 months before they could contest for election in the party.

Article 27(f) of Chapter 5 in APGA constitution (2019) states that to qualify for participation in the APGA Primary, an aspirant must be a duly registered member of the party for a period of not less than 18 months prior to the National Assembly primary election unless waived by the National working Committee in accordance with Article 24 (8).

Chief Chukwudi said that during the 2021 governorship election, “alot of APGA members including the Deputy Governor, siting Reps & Assembly members defected to APC with some collecting millions of naira & returned to APGA as the November Governorship election in ANAMBRA State was getting close.”

The pressure groups appealed to Ozonkpu Victor Oye to use this opportunity to redeem his image. According to the group;

“Those who played the smart game are likely to face the dance of “the dance of the spirit”. By the time the ongoing screening exercises are concluded & results published, the returnees & the newcomers (especially, the food has done group) like Hon. Chris Azubogu who joined APGA a month ago & now paid his way through to obtain waiver to run for Senate, him & others will know the true changing & redeeming Victor Oye when screening result is out.”

Speaking to AIF Media, Chief Chukwudi revealed that a “Close source told him that Oye is bent on doing the right thing this time around especially as he has few months to vacate Office.”

He revealed that those who are clearly and most likely not to get cleared for leaving the party during the November 6 guber election are lawmakers who now seek return ticket.

“Hon Ifeanyi Chiekwu who is representing Idemili North. He also left to APC and surprisingly appeared at St Alphonsus Nkpor in one of Prof Soludo’s campaign tour.”

He concluded by stating that “this is the moment and the last chance Victor Oye has in his life to redeem his image as ndi APGA await the report of the screening committee.”
