Gov Soludo’s Taxing Method Calls For Worry
The administration of Prof Soludo can be describes as a tax administration where everything and everybody is being taxed heavily. His tax policy is such that the citizens of the state are now working for the govt.
With high inflation, insecurity, unemployment and closure of businesses due to the senseless sit at home orders, the citizens are already going through alot and the administration of Soludo is adding to the burden with heavy taxation.
The Anambra State Waste Management Agency, ASWAMA has come up with another waste collection tax where houses in the rural areas of Ayamelum, Orumba, Ekwusigo, Ogbaru etc are expected to pay a compulsory levy of 12,000 and those at Urban areas pay 24,000 annually.
Hotels are expected to pay as high as 950,000 naira depending on the location and number of rooms. Most of these hotels are running at loss due to high cost of gas.
With this level of taxation, how will an investor prefer bringing down his businesses here under this administration?
He doesn’t even mind that this is an election year and that his party will participate actively in all the elective positions in National and State Assembly seats.
His administration came with pain. While some lost thier houses and shops which were demolished, others are being taxed heavily.
Strongly, this isn’t the solution that many clamoured for.
