INEC Declares PDP's Ibrahim Tukur Candidate Winner Of Zamfara Bye-election

The PDP has claimed another crucial victory over the APC in Zamfara state

– Ibrahim Tukur, the candidate’s party in the Bakura constituency by-election defeated the APC’s candidate, Bello Dankande

– However, the APC had earlier pulled out of the election after the first ballot was declared inconclusive.

Ibrahim Tukur, the People Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the Bakura constituency by-election in Zamfara state, has been declared the winner.

Channels TV reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Tukur the winner on Wednesday, December 9, four days after the election was conducted.

Legit.ng had reported that the by-election which was conducted on Saturday, December 5, was declared inconclusive by INEC after cancelling the results of 14 polling units in Bakura ward.

The electoral body subsequently announced December 9 as the date for the supplementary election.

According to the INEC’s returning officer for the suplementary election, Professor Tanko Yahaya, the PDP candidate polled 23,874 polls to defeat his close challenger, Bello Dankande, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who scored 16,546 votes
