Facts have emerged on why All Progressives Congress Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, is said to be devastated by the death of his ‘most loyal’ aide, Alhaji Lati Raheem.
Raheem, who was Tinubu’s Chief Security Officer, was said to have passed on on Friday as result of diabetes and high blood pressure.
He had been on Tinubu’s team for over 20 years and was the only aide still left from his time as governor of Lagos state from 1999 to 2007.
But here is what made him Tinubu’s toast and most trusted ally, according to a post by opinion mobiliser, Ayo Ojeniyi:
Alhaji Lati! So very painful when I heard about his demise early this morning. A very trusted aide of Tinubu. The one Asiwaju would call and say: Lati, go and buy bread and Akara for me. Tinubu likes bread and akara too much.
He was picked up by DSS during Obasanjo administration when Asiwaju too was a governor in Lagos, they were looking for some documents and money then to nail Tinubu, Alhaji Lati was whisked away and tortured for some days, his house was ransacked thoroughly, before he was released.
Tinubu further liked him because he didn’t release any information to those guys that picked him up. Since then he had developed some health challenges he was managing till his death.
I knew him very well. He’s from Ilaro, Ogun state but not many people know that his mother was an Hausa woman.
Very painful.
So very loyal to Tinubu. Only one that kept Tinubu glass cup whenever they went to social party.
