24hrs After FG Reopens Border, Seme Border Still Close

Twenty Four hours after the announcement of the reopening of four border points by the Nigerian Government, one of them, the Lagos Seme Border remained locked Thursday as security personnel continues to restrict movement of persons and goods across the border post.

Residents who were eager to resume their usual activities were seen around wondering the next line of action.

The residents who were full of jubilation after the announcement of the Reopening on Wednesday met a stumbling block on Thursday at the entry point as they were denied access in and out of the point of entry.

For some residents of the border, its closure has not yielded meaningful result as small arms still find their way into the country.

They are calling on the authority to ensure effective joint border patrol with neighboring countries to help minimize smuggling and illegal migration as well as prevent future closure of the borders.
