Eleven travellers from Sokoto defy interstate lockdown, apprehended in Ibadan


Eleven travellers from Sokoto who claimed to be travelling to Akure, Ondo state have been apprehended in Ibadan at Asejire after defying the COVID-19 interstate border lockdown.


The driver of the bus who claimed to have passed through old roads and bushes from Sokoto to Niger, Kwara into Ogbomosho then Ibadan said they were eager to reconcile with their families in Akure.


Oyo state Governor Seyi Makinde who was at Gbagi divisional police station to observe the situation, said the state government would duly test the travellers and ensure they were sent back to Sokoto after being isolated while awaiting their test results
Governor Makinde also stressed that though Governors across the nation have continued to meet to intensify strategies for interstate lock down, Oyo state would not relent in enforcing health and other safety compliance in the continuing fight against COVID-19
