The Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Solid Minerals Charles Udoh ( KSJI ) Played host to 2nd National Vice President Miners Association of Nigeria Mr. Kennedy Enebeli and Chairman, Miners Association Akwa Ibom State Chapter Elder. Edem Obot at his Office.
Mr. Kennedy’s visit was to intimate the Honourable Commissioner of his visit to the state and to apologize for the derogatory attitude of some miners in the state without proper documentation and permit from Akwa Ibom State Government.
Responding to Mr. Kennedy, Sir. Charles Udoh harped on reasons Mining needed to be regulated, he also acknowledge the fact that registering with any federal agency is not a bad idea but in as much as the mining activities will be done in Akwa Ibom State it is mandatory for the Ministry of environment and Solid Minerals to know where it is done provided the specification is met.
If the Miners are united as an association they could bid for jobs and make a huge profit from it, let’s not forget the fact that Ibom deep sea port will need miners to make supplies and they can as an association get soft loans from banks to expand their business… Sir. Charles Udoh maintained
Mr. Kennedy promised to do everything within his powers to put the Association in order so that they can enjoy maximum benefit from the government before his tenure of One year elapses.
