October 3, 2020 was a special day in the run up to the Anambra 2021 governorship election. Representatives of all the 17 towns in Idemili North and South Local Government Areas converged at the beautiful and serene country home of Chief Leon Mezue and spoke in one loud and clear voice. They want Prof Chukwuma Soludo to join the race for the 2021 governorship election to crystallise the beauty of Anambra.
The gathering was under the aegis of Soludo Promoters Forum, a body that is seeking to end the indifference of elites to politics and governance. Matching their words with action, they put together a crack executive team, made up of Chief Tony Onyima, Chief Mike Uzuagu, Peter Eze, Prince Okafor, Nkem Okeke and Victor Eze to galvanise the critical mass or if you like, the grassroot to ensure victory for Soludo in the election. In addition, the formidable and indomitable duo of Chief Leon Mezue and Prof. Joe Ogbuefi are to oversee activities of the group in the two local government areas, which erudite journalists and media administrator, now morphed media scholar, Chief Onyima aptly said “matter” in the political calculus of Anambra State.
One of the highlights of the unprecedented gathering was the appointment of Chief Leon Mezue and Dr. Simeon Ukpaka as members of the SPF Council of Patrons. Mezue is the Principal Partner of leading real estate company, Mezue Associates while Ukpaka is a big investor in oil and gas, and aviation, among other sectors.
The Idemili SPF launch is coming on the heels of the inaugurations of Aguata and Anaocha Local Government Area Chapters.
