The governor on March 17, 2014 inherited a peaceful Anambra with sound economy and a healthy fiscal state. Down the line, out of incompetence this administration began to balkanize the various town unions and traditional institutions in the state.
Over 80% of all the communities in Anambra state are either having issues with their town union govt or with their Igweship.
In most cases the APGA govt ignores court orders and impose their lackey on the people. The opinion of the majority of the communities do not count.
The latest on their impunity of imposing unpopular persons on the people was witnessed in Awa community in Orumba north LGA. Despite the protests by ndi Awa, they went ahead to impose an Igwe on them.
Funny enough, the state govt in its own letter dated February 12, 2021 cancelled the election scheduled on February 13, 2021 to select the Igwe of Awa. The letter was addressed to the President General, Awa community and signed by the Commissioner for local govt, chieftaincy and community affairs.
It is unexplainable how the govt on February 12, 2021 cancelled the scheduled election for the selection of an Igwe in Awa community, but on the February 13, a group claimed that they had the backing of the state govt and crowned someone the traditional ruler of Awa.
AIF Media learned that security was deployed to Awa on the said date to ensure election never held but it was only a ploy to carry out their unpopular agenda, as the security looked away from the real location where the crowning of Igwe was taking place.
AIF Media was told that violence almost broke out when the people learnt of the secret crowning of an unpopular Igwe.
This APGA administration came, saw and destroyed. It was 8 years of destabilization.
But there is hope.
November 6, will mark a true departure and return of people’s administration that will restore the values of our people.
