Anambra Police Command Elevates 89 Inspectors to ASP

The Anambra State Police Command on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, decorated 89 Inspectors with their new ranks as Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP), marking a major career milestone for the officers. The colourful ceremony, held at the Command Headquarters in Awka, also featured their official induction into the Police Officers’ Mess, symbolizing their transition into the officer cadre of the Nigeria Police Force.
Representing the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, DCP Mantu Chong mni, congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to view their elevation not just as a reward for hard work but as a call to greater responsibility.
“Promotion comes with higher expectations. The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, approved these promotions in recognition of your dedication and sacrifices. You must now justify the confidence reposed in you by ensuring effective service delivery and upholding the values of honesty, fairness, and accountability,” Chong charged.
He reminded the officers that leadership in the Force demands professionalism, discipline, and community collaboration in order to effectively tackle crime and sustain peace across Anambra State.
Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, ASP Oliji Alfred expressed deep appreciation to the Police Service Commission and the Force Headquarters for the recognition. He assured that the officers would redouble their commitment to duty and live up to the expectations of their new ranks.
The event drew senior officers of the command, family members, and well-wishers, and concluded with group photographs and the induction formalities into the Officers’ Mess, reinforcing the bonds of camaraderie and leadership at their new level of service.
