The Anambra State Police Command held its inaugural Couples Night today, December 20, 2024, at the Vertex View Hotel Hall, Nibo, Awka.
This was disclosed in a press release issued to journalists in Awka by the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga. He stated that the event, which was the brainchild of the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, aimed to bring together police officers and their spouses to foster connection, camaraderie, and relaxation.
The evening featured engaging presentations by marriage counselors, exciting couple games, an exchange of thoughtful gifts, and a lively dance session. These activities created a memorable experience while promoting unity among the officers and their families.
In his remarks, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam expressed his gratitude to the officers for their hard work and dedication. He highlighted the significance of the event in appreciating their patriotic service to Ndi Anambra and inspiring greater commitment to maintaining safety and security in 2025.
The Couples Night was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impact and strengthening the bond within the Anambra State Police Command as they prepare for an even more productive year ahead.
CP Itam urged Ndi Anambra to shift their focus away from the challenges facing Nigeria, such as economic issues, and instead prioritize relaxation and reconnecting with their families. He emphasized that society begins with the family, and by promoting strong family values, much of the crime currently seen as a “business” would be eradicated.
He also issued a stern warning to criminals in the state, urging them to repent and change their ways.
According to CP Itam, despite the demanding nature of their work, the police will continue to enforce the law and intensify operations to ensure the safety of Anambra State.
However, he stressed the importance of a collective change in mindset. “Until this change occurs,” he stated, “we cannot achieve the self-sustaining communities we desire.”
