Another Police brutality unleashed in Obosi, Idemili LGA. Anambra

The increasing reign of terror and abuse of civil rights was unleashed today by men of the Nigeria police force who were said to be from Imo state on transit to Ondo state on election duty along Mike Ajegbo road, in Obosi, the home town of Hon Obinna Chidoka member representing Idemili North/South Federal constituency at the National Assembly.
Trouble started when a group of Policemen in an attempt to maneuver the traffic along the Obosi road bounced on a driver of another vehicle one Mr. Nnaemeka Iwuanyawu a resident of Obosi town and a constituent of Idemili federal constituency and brutalized the youngman whom they alleged splashed water on them amidst the traffic congestion.
Their action drew the attention of Hon Obinna Chidoka who happened to be in the same traffic along the road. He alighted from his vehicle and tried to stop the policemen who were beating up the young man but one of them in a swift display of force assaulted Hon Chidoka. There was an uproar and sporadic gunshots into the air as the people of Obosi community trooped out in their numbers to challenge police assault on their representative.
Hon. Obinna Chidoka was able calm the angry mob and admonished them not to take laws into their hands and they gave way for the policemen to proceed on their election duty.
The Anambra state police public relations officer has however put a call across to Hon. Chidoka thanking him for his timely intervention and for salvaging the situation.
Hon. Obinna Chidoka used the opportunity to call on all state authorities including the police to end all form of brutalization but to respect and protect the rights of the citizens. He also called on the Anambra state traffic management agency to quickly seek for means to ease off the ever increasing traffic situation in Obosi and other contiguous towns.
