Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has said Bukayo Saka will not be stripped of the responsibility of taking spot-kick for the Gunners.
The Spaniard said that the England forward will continue to be the club’s first-choice penalty taker despite his miss against West Ham.
Saka spurned a golden opportunity to put the Gunners 3-1 up against West Ham in their last Premier League outing.
The game ended in a 2-2 draw and allowed Manchester City to close the gap on them to just four points with a game in hand.
There are concerns over whether Saka would continue to be taking penalties for Arsenal and on this, Arteta said the English forward will continue to bear the burden.
“That’s the way he is. He loves the responsibility but as well he puts a lot on his shoulders,” the former Manchester City assistant coach told Arsenal’s official website.
“I think at the end of this, it can be something very positive that can give him a big lift because everyone reacted in an unbelievable way towards him.”
