NLC had during the  pre May Day rally held in Abuja last Friday threatened to embark on a three-day nationwide warning strike if the Federal Government continues to ignore the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities  (ASUU).

In a press release issued and signed by the General Secretary of the Union Comrade Bomoi Mohammed ibraheem titled “we cannot afford to sit on the fence” the foremost Trade Union in Nigeria worried over the deliberate refusal of government to yield to the demand of the workers thus promoting incessant strike which had continued to destroy the education system.

According to the statement, it is disheartening and warrisome  that the political class is deliberately developing “a culture of social Apartheid wherefore the children of the poor are deliberately and strategically being denied tertiary education in order to  make them perpetually subservient to the children of the rich.”
