Bauchi Governor Pays Sympathy Visit to Community Hit by Flood Disaster

It was not the best of times for Cheledi community of Kirfi local government area of Bauchi state as flood washed away thousands of farmlands, houses and animals worth millions of Naira.
Briefing the Governor on the incident on Saturday in the community, the Chairman of the local government Alhaji Garba Musa Bara said the flood was as result of incessant down pour with many properties destroyed.
Also lending his voice on the disaster, the member representing Kirfi constituency in the state house of Assembly Umar Abdulkadir Dewo appealed to the state Government to provide immediate palliative for the victims to ease their suffering.
The State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, while addressing the victims said that Government will take inventory of the property and farm lands lost in the disaster with a view to providing them with assistance.
“We are going to take inventory of properties, including animals and other things that were swept away by the flood so that as a government we will provide assistance”, he said.
Bala who said though it is not possible for one to recover all that was lost, assured that Government will provide the victims with relief materials to cushion their hardship.

The Governor who commiserated with the affected Communities said a technical committee will be constituted to take proper assessment of the damage caused by the flood.
He also said that the Committee will comprise of traditional leaders and political representatives of the area and that the state government will also report the incident to the federal government in order to seek for assistance for the victims.
“We know that President Muhammadu Buhari has a listening ears and we believe he is going to assist our people without delay”, Bala said.
Governor Bala announced the donation of two trailer load of rice and maize to victims, adding that Government will send blankets and other relief materials to them as an immediate palliative measure.
