Honour and recognition again came the way of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN; and Chairman Anambra V-Vision 2070 when the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, (CBCN) presented a plaque and certificate of appreciation in recognition of Soludo’s ” outstanding service as a member of the Finance Council of CBCN from December 2011 to December 2017″
The certificate of appreciation which came with an adorable plaque was signed by the President, Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, the Archbishop of Abuja
The significance of this unique recognition bestowed on Soludo is further profound in the light of the fact that the Catholic Church in Nigeria is being administered and coordinated through the CBCN.
It is also an organ of unity, communion and solidarity for the millions of Catholic faithfuls spread across the thirty-six states of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja
The CBCN is therefore a highly reverred forum where the collegiality of the Nigerian Catholic Bishops as successors of the Apostle in the union with Pope is expressed. And moreso, where the other idea of the church as a family is signified.
Also very significant, is the fact, that through the conference, the Archbishops and Bishops of the 55 ecclesiastical jurisdiction, as Shepherds of the souls in their Archdioceses, dioceses and vicariates are able to pray together and with one voice speak and spearhead the teaching, prophetic and pastoral ministry of the Catholic Church of Nigeria
The appreciation letter described Prof. Soludo as an astute and committed Catholic, who, during his membership of the Finance Council of CBCN distinguished himself with his selfless service to the council
Soludo in his reaction, described the honour bestowed on him as one that he will cherish forever. He said, receiving an honour of this magnitude from a reverred and distinguished body like the CBCN is not only heartwarming but also a call to greater service in the vineyard of the Lord, whom he also graciously dedicated the award to.
“Indeed, I feel greatly humbled by this recognition from the CBCN and I see this as a further call to greater service in the vineyard of God. And to him, Almighty God, I dedicate this award” Soludo said.
However, the significance of the award was not lost on the outside world as well-wishers within and across the globe also sent messages of felicitations to the eminent professor for this rare feat of being a recipient of this most distinguished recognition from the Catholic body in Nigeria as represented by the CBCN.
