Clean, Green and Sustainable Environment Initiative: NOCEN Provost, Anyadiegwu Flags Off Tree Planting Exercise

Following the Economic Planting Programme of the Executive Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, the Provost of Nwafor-Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe (NOCEN), Dr. Justina Anyadiegwu on Friday, 23rd August 2024 alongside the members of her management team flagged off the Institution’s Tree Planting Exercise.

College’s Information and Public Relations Officer, Mr. Egbunonu, Benny. O, mnipr,
Dr Anyadiegwu stressed the need for tree planting, arguing that it helped to checkmate wind erosion and pollution, biodiversity loss and recover from climate change for ecosystem stability.

The NOCEN Provost emphasized that tree planting would beautify and create green canopy across the College Community and also enhanced healthy living lifestyle.

According to Dr Anyadiegwu, the College needs to plant trees as a way of driving environmental sustainability and wealth creation, preservation of ecosystem and environmental conservation, even as she expressed gratitude to Prof. Soludo for his support towards the College.

For his part, the Chairman, College Committee on Tree Planting and Environmental Management, Dr Chidi Arubalueze stated that the essence of tree planting cannot be overemphasized because trees have numerous benefits, saying that trees ensure green and eco-friendly environment, poverty alleviation and climate change mitigation.

He informed the college community that over 180 palm trees had been planted in the school.

Highlight of the ceremony was the planting of palm trees by the Provost and her Management as well as Dr Arubalueze to support Professor Soludo’s Clean, Green and Sustainable Environment Initiative for Ndi Anambra State.
