Coca Kola Traders Lament Over Lose Of Goods Worth Millions To Inferno In Anambra

Over Five Hundred Million naira worth of goods was totally razed down by the fire outbreak that gutted some parts of Fruits and Vegetables Market popularily known as Afia Coke Cola market in Ogbaru local government area of Anambra State.

The inferno according to the security in that market started by1am on 19th April 2021 but gone beyond their capacity and escalated within that portion of the market.

We alerted fire fighters in Okpoko but could not respond but the Divisional Police Officer of Okpoko police station ,Mr Ugochuku who joined to ensure that hoodlums did not take advantage to perpetrate evil made series of calls that attracted main market fire men ,ogbunike and Asaba that quench the fire.

According to the the general chairman Mr chukwuka Udeze who spoke on behalf of Edwin Ogbonna ,the inferno which stated from ice block cooling system section due to electrical fault Sparks it’s fire outbreak that gutted their warehouse and parking store and destroyed uncountable goods .

I was speechless when I came down to the market and saw the quantity of damage ,infact it is painful as the 85 percent of traders are all widows.

The secretary general of the market Comrade Anthony Obiajunwa who narrated his ordeal as he participated in fighting the fire outbreak that early morning.

,”When the inferno started I was alerted by my workers which I immidiately come over to put out the fire but all to no avail as the fire fighters in okpoko has no vehicle and the market fire extinguisher was destroyed when traders in the market was forced to move away from the market.

Some victims who lamented on their lost appealed to federal and state government as well as philanthropists to come to their aid especially now things are very hard.

Meanwhile when our correspondent visited the market, the fire was still on, while traders were try to put out the fire
