Tanzanian President, John Pombe Magufuli, instructed security forces to take samples from non-human sources. They took that of a goat, sheep, pawpaw etc and labeled each container with human names. This was submitted to lab officials who were unaware of the sources for testing.
Results from the pawpaw, goat and few others came out positive whilst others were either negative or inconclusive. In Magufuli’s own words, “This tells you that something is not adding up. Are we now supposed to quarantine goats and fruits? […] There is something happening.
I said before we should not accept that every aid is meant to be good for this nation,” obviously, Magufuli did not trust the source of the test kits.
If this claim is legitimate, all other African countries must have a second look at the test kits they received from outside the continent and adopt a different strategy as urgent as possible.
