Covid-19 Team Storms Onitsha Market, Shares 1000 Face Masks

The Anambra State Markets Amalgamated Traders Association, ASMATA,
Coronavirus, Covid-19, pandemic monitoring and Enforcement Compliance
team, was on Tuesday stormed Onitsha main market as part of its activities
lined up towards sensitising the traders in the state on the need to
observe the Covid-19 protocol.

Addressing the traders, the team leader, Chief Humphery Anuna, urged
the traders to ensure strict compliance adding that the existence of
the covid-19 pandemic is a reality”

“Most of these burial ceremonies we attend on Thursdays, Fridays and
Saturdays are connected to covid-19 .

We trade only on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Other days are for
burials and any master trader you see in the market on Thursday to
Sunday is a suspect because his colleagues are at the burial arena”

He stresssed the need for all to wear face mask before entering any
market in the state.

According to him the vaccine for the covid-19 has been provided but
prevention is better than cure.

Speaking, the vice president of Ogboafale market, comrade Emeka
Okafor, commended the team for its sensitisation and urged the traders
to abide by the covid-19 protocol.

He said that in their market all wore face masks adding that the state
governmnent has intensified action towards its prevention.

In his own reaction, the main market zonal chairman, Covid-19, Chief
Victor Ajuzieogu, commended the traders for coming out en mass to
welcome the team..

He advised the state government not to relent in its efforts towards
the fight against the pandemic.

In their separate speech, the Motorcycle Spareparts Market Chairman, Ogbunile, Chief Emma
Anyaegbunam, and Mr. Emmanuel Idoko, the Chairman Haruna Market Traders Association expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the sensitisation stating that in his market traders there observed the covid-19 protocol.

“People are observing the protocol and every body knows the existence
of the covid-19 is a reality”

Highlight of the event was the sharing of over 1000 face masks to the
raders by the team leader, Chief Anuna.
