The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District has called on the people of Anambra Central Senatorial District to support each other during this period that the country and the world at large is battling against the scourge of the coronavirus pandemic. She said this while addressing her constituents on Sunday.

Ekwunife who spoke in Igbo dialect called on the people of the Senatorial District from all walks of life to reach out to each other, particularly to the poor and the vulnerable during this period.

Speaking in the four minutes video address, Senator Ekwunife described the battle against the pandemic and its economic challenges as one which requires collective efforts to overcome.

“While our dear country, Nigeria and the world battles to stop the spread of the coronavirus disease, we must not be unmindful of the impact the pandemic is having on the poor and the vulnerable in our society. I therefore encourage us to render whatever help or support we can to our neighbours, friends and loved one. This is a time for brothers to support brothers, sisters to support sisters and the privileged to support the less privileged”.

The Senator noted that while there are ongoing efforts by both the Federal and State governments, as well as non-governmental organizations to address the menace, she and her team have commenced sensitization and sharing of some preventive materials and food items across the constituency, particularly to those who cannot afford these items.

She urged the people of the Senatorial District to take the advises of the World Health Organization, the National Centre for Disease Control and all other standard bodies which have released precautionary guidelines targeted at stopping the spread of the virus seriously, including staying at home, regular washing and sanitizing of hands, avoiding large crowds and social distancing.

She appreciated Ndi Anambra Central for finding her worthy to represent them in the 9th Senate and restated her commitment to offering a representation that will continue to address the yearnings of the people at the grassroots. She prayed that the world finds an end to the virus which is currently ravaging many countries.
