CP Orutugu Calls for Unity as Anambra Marks Ash Wednesday and Ramadan, Urges Prayers for Peace

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc MNIPS PhD, has called on Christian and Muslim faithful to unite in faith as they observe Ash Wednesday and the holy month of Ramadan.

According to press release disclosed to the newsmen by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations officer Anambta State Command, stating that CP Orutugu urged both Christians and Muslim faithful to use this period of reflection, fasting, and prayer to seek divine intervention for the nation and promote peace.

CP Orutugu emphasized that both Ash Wednesday and Ramadan carry deep spiritual significance, encouraging self-discipline, repentance, and growth.

While Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent, a 40-day period of fasting and reflection for Christians, Ramadan is observed by Muslims as a sacred month of fasting and devotion.

He noted that both observances share common values of love, forgiveness, and tolerance, making them a time for religious harmony.

Reaffirming the commitment of the Anambra State Police Command to protecting lives and property, CP Orutugu assured residents that security measures are constantly evolving to address emerging threats.

He urged citizens to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and supportive of law enforcement agencies in the collective fight against crime.

A key highlight of the memorial was a church service held at the Command Headquarters, where Christian officers participated in the symbolic application of ashes on their foreheads.
