Defection to APC: Protest rocks Adamawa House of Assembly over rumors of declaring member’s seat vacant
There was a peaceful protest today at the gate of Adamawa House of Assembly by some Youths displaying placards protesting any move to remove or declare the seat of the member representing Michika constituency, Hon Joseph Ayuba Kawada (Depolis) who recently defected to All Progressives Congress, APC, to People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
The youth in their number were chanting “leave our lawmaker alone, ” we say no to injustice and yes to justice”, we love Depolis leave him alone” when a plenary session was going on by the state lawmaker.
There has been a rumor of declaring the Member seat vacant by the House of Assembly presided by Rt Hon Iya Abbas today but the house after exhausting what is on the order paper, the house was adjourned to Wednesday (tomorrow), 27Th April 2023.
The protest was caused as a result of Ayuba’s Cross Carpeted to APC from PDP.
The protesters attracted the attention of security agents who stormed the house and barricaded the Assembly complex.
The spokesman of the protest group, Hon Koji Garta said that the plans to suspend the lawmaker is dead on arrival and they are willing to go to any length to fight the illegallity.
Efforts to get the house reaction by the Assembly house committee chairman on information, Hon Kefas Japhet prove abortive as all calls put through his phone numbers are not been picked.
