Publisher of Oasis Magazine, Daniel Umukoro, was on Saturday asked to step out from an ongoing event at the palace of the Ovie of Oruarivie-Abraka Kingdom in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.
The publisher who was at the ceremony to cover the chieftaincy title conferment of the Public Reactions Officer (PRO), Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Mr. Edward Agbure, was approached by a chief in the palace and asked to step out of the auditorium.
Reacting to the development, Umukoro, described the incidence as shocking, saying that it may be connected to recent reports that were published on his online platform.
He said: “I was sitting down waiting for the commencement of the occasion when a chief approached me and politely asked me to go out. According to him, he said that it was a directive from the monarch.
“The kingdom is ruled by an enlightened monarch and so I least expected this kind of action as a method to tell me someone is not happy with my publications. The normal thing to do is call my attention to anything that they think is not right and then I explain.
“I am not happy, but I have decided to let go. They can have their palace while I continue my job. God knows that I wish the kingdom well and I have nothing against any of the leaders.”
