#EndSARS Protest in Rivers After Govt. Banned #EndSARS Protest

The organizers of #EndSARs Protest in Port Harcourt, Rivers State Capital, KO Baba Jornsen and his team of entertainers, civil society activists and other residents have kicked -off demonstration in the state to demand end to police brutality and other human rights abuses.
This is despite earlier warnings by the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, that no one should embark on any SARS protest in the state.
His Commissioner for Information and Communications, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim, had on Monday 12th October, relayed the governor’s warning in a press statement.
But the EndSARs protesters have taken over the streets of Port Harcourt and put the city on lockdown.
But KO Baba, while reacting to the Monday night ban on all forms of protests in the state by the Rivers State Government, said:
“The state government’s directive had some political undertone and we enjoin residents who have indicated interest to participate not to be deterred but come out in their numbers and fight against the brutality of the SARS.
” We are here today to add our voices to that of our brother’s and sisters across the globe to see that this set of corrupt, inhuman and rascally operatives are completely purged from the system.”
At the moment the protest is peaceful as there are no signs of military personnel and the protesters are going about the protest calmly and peacefully.
