Ex-gov Egwu, others reject NASS election results in Ebonyi
A former governor of Ebonyi state, Sam Egwu, who is representing Ebonyi North senatorial zone in the National Assembly, has rejected the election results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Sen. Ama Nnachi representing Ebonyi south senatorial zone also rejected the election result. He was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Also, the Senatorial candidate of Labour Party, LP, Linus Okorie who formerly represented Ohaozara, Onicha and Ivo federal constituency in the National Assembly, rejected the outcome of the election conducted in Ebonyi South zone.
The Senatorial candidates: Egwu, Okorie, Ogbee and others made this known while speaking with newsmen shortly after staging a work-out at the INEC office in Abakaliki, while the election results are still being announced.
According to Egwu, “What is happening in Ebonyi is a shambles. In Ebonyi, the use of BVAs was not adhered to. People are voting as if we are still in the period where you just collect a sheet of paper and start writing and then you give it to INEC to record. How can that be? You are still collating results and you go on to announce it when the collation is not completed.
“INEC has assured us that the results would be verified. The electoral act says that we must vote by the use of BVAs but they have thrown away the BVAs; many polling booths didn’t use the BVAS, they just collected figures, it is allocation that we are seeing in Ebonyi state.”
The same complaint was re-echoed by all the other candidates. Continue reading
