Gen Adetunji Olurin (retd), a true definition of an officer and a gentleman — Segun Showunmi
To know the late Artillery General of the Nigerian Army was to recognise that a man of impeccable character is gone.
A fine specimen of dedication to country, he went about every activity with the dignity of a trained arms bearer, all through his life. A dutiful commander of men, a prudent manager of resources and indeed a gentleman.
As the news of his demise hit the airwaves, I reflected on the life of the former military Governor of Oyo State, Sole Administrator of Ekiti and former Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Ogun State.
A prince of Ilaro in Yewa South of Ogun State, former Ecomog field commander, with impeccable service record,
it is common to use the phrase an officer and a gentleman, but in the case of Major-General Tunji Olurin, he was indeed an officer and a gentleman.
Adetunji omo erin lonibu
Omo efon lo lona
Omo pakan lakan, leyin jijo awo ni gbori ile, Omo ina tin jo geregere lori omi
Omo aran o sunwon e ko nigbale
Omo oku eko omo ijagudu akara.
May your soul rest in peace.
