THE ISSUE OF HIGH COST OF LIVING IN AWKA AND THE WAY FORWARD.
Awka the Capital of Anambra State is predominantly populated by Civil Servants, Students and handful of Politicians, business owners and artisans. However, there is need to reduce the high cost of living to the barest minimum to cushion the effects on Civil Servants and Students alike.
So may I use this opportunity to recommend to the 80 Man transition committee of the Governor Elect Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo to look into the high cost of living in Awka the Capital of Anambra State such as high cost of Accommodation, Food Items and Services.
It is very important that this issue is dealt with as much as possible so that residents of Awka can breathe.
This trend has been there for so many years and the previous administration and the outgoing administration failed woefully to tackle the menace. So I urge the Transition committee to look into it critically and suggest ways to curb down the high cost of living in Awka.
I will suggest that the Transition Committee should recommend to the incoming administration to set up price regulatory authority that will be charged with the responsibility of regulating prices of food items, services and accommodation in such a way that it will be favourable to all those concerned.
Following the way things are going now I believe the incoming administration of Charlie Nwangboafor will transform Anambra State into a better State for the good of all.
I rest my case.
